Wild North Discovery ExperiencesWe run a wide range of nature based activities from wildlife
and nature exploration to learning bushcrafts or developing ancient
craft skills that use natural materials including greenwood turning on a pole
lathe and willow basket making.
From ospreys and red deer to badger watching, from firecraft
and wilderness cooking to making a rolling pin or a chair there is something
for everyone with a love of the natural world and natural materials.
The activities range from half a day to a full week and can
be booked for just two people or a group of friends. Family activities are also available
including family bushcrafts for a half day introduction to something very new
for the kids.
We also run walking and general exploration activities: you can enjoy a week or a weekend of walking with a local guide,
exploring the landscape, wildlife and intriguing past of the North Pennine
Dales.
We
run activities in two geographical areas of the UK: the North Pennines
in Northern England and the North West Highlands of Scotland.
North Peninnes Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
This
is one of England's truly special places - a stunning landscape of open
heather moors and peatlands, attractive dales and hay meadows, tumbling
upland rivers and waterfalls, upland oak woods, stone-built villages,
intriguing imprints of a distant lead-mining past, distinctive plants
and animals (80% of England's black grouse, 22,000 pairs of nesting
wading birds, red squirrels, otters and rare arctic alpine plants).
The North West Highlands
A
majestic landscape of ancient mountains, lochs and true wilderness
landscape where you can walk all day and see no-one. Golden eagles
patrol the skies, osprey fish the rivers and lochans, red deer rut,
dolphins and porpoise leap from the sparkling waters.
