Become wild woodsmen and have a feast

You’ll need to build a shelter, your own den in the woods. You’re going to eat so you’ll build and light your own camp fire (but no matches!). You’ll make your own bread cakes and cook them on the embers; make and cook your very own kebabs and finish off with camp fire popcorn. Sitting round the fire, depending on time of year and age, you can have a go at making a willow whistle, an elder-wood pea-shooter or a string bracelet from nettles.

Duration: 3½ to 4 hours depending on group.

Cost: £50 for a family of up to four. £10 per additional child

Further information: Maximum of two children per adult. Maximum group size is six. Children should be 8 years or over. Bring your own food to make kebabs.

Activity leaders are qualified through the Institute for Outdoor Learning to teach bushcrafts and are CRB checked.

Location: North Pennines - Weardale
